Last updated: August 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Trevor Sampson, doing business as Ops Check ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Ops Check, available at ops-check.com and as a mobile application (the "Service").

Ops Check is a study platform for students preparing for FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who This Service Is For

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at the address in Section 12.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information. Your email address and password when you register. Passwords are stored in hashed form; we never see your plaintext password.
  • Profile information. A username or display name you choose.
  • Study content you enter. Missed written test codes you input, answers you submit to practice questions, and any text you send to the AI DME feature.
  • Support communications. Any message you send us by email.

Information generated by your use of the Service

  • Study activity. Question attempts and results, quiz and simulation scores, flashcard progress, subject-level mastery, streaks, and time spent studying.
  • Referral activity. If you refer another user or are referred, we record the connection between those accounts in order to apply the referral reward.
  • Subscription status. Your trial state, subscription status, renewal dates, and any bonus or promotional periods applied to your account.
  • Technical data. Standard server and application logs generated by our hosting platform, including IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps of requests.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect payment card numbers. See Section 5.
  • We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Create and maintain your account and authenticate you;
  • Deliver study content and track your progress;
  • Personalize study recommendations, including generating question sets based on the missed written codes you enter;
  • Operate leaderboards and competitive features (see Section 6);
  • Process subscriptions, trials, and referral rewards;
  • Send you transactional email about your account, subscription, and trial;
  • Send you optional product and study-reminder email, which you may unsubscribe from at any time;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms;
  • Diagnose technical problems and improve the Service.

4. The AI DME Feature

The AI DME (Designated Mechanic Examiner) feature sends the text you enter, along with relevant context about the question or subject, to OpenAI, which processes it and returns a response.

Your input to this feature is transmitted to OpenAI and handled under OpenAI's terms for business API customers. We do not send OpenAI your email address, name, or payment information. Do not enter sensitive personal information into the AI DME feature.

5. Payments

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you subscribe, you enter your payment details directly with Stripe. We never receive, transmit, or store your full card number, CVC, or bank account details.

We receive from Stripe only a customer identifier, a subscription identifier, subscription status and dates, and the outcome of payment attempts. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.

6. Publicly Visible Information

Leaderboards, classrooms, and other competitive features display your chosen username and your performance statistics to other users of the Service. Your email address is never displayed publicly.

If you do not want to appear on leaderboards, you can change your leaderboard visibility in Settings.

7. How We Share Information

We share personal information only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. With companies that operate parts of the Service on our behalf: our application hosting and database platform, Stripe for payments, OpenAI for the AI DME feature, and our transactional email provider. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
  • Legal requirements. When we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request.
  • Safety and enforcement. To investigate potential violations of our terms, fraud, or threats to the safety of any person.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. When you do:

  • Your study data, statistics, progress, and profile are deleted;
  • Any active subscription is cancelled automatically to stop future billing;
  • We retain your email address for six months after deletion in a limited internal record used solely to prevent repeated free-trial signups. This record contains your email address and an expiry date, and nothing else. It is automatically removed after six months.

We retain other information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls that restrict each account's data to that account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Access and correct your account information in Settings;
  • Delete your account and associated data in Settings;
  • Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any such email or through Settings. You will still receive transactional messages about your account and billing;
  • Control leaderboard visibility in Settings.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion of your personal information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
